Yeah - Borkin’s so hot.

This video opens our Ivanough!  I genuinely think Chekhov would’ve loved this upheaval.

These are all credited, by the way, to room404media, and of course, Andrew Neisler, our director.

Beginning in September, The Tank and Full Circle Theatre Company are producing a monthly staged reading series, featuring plays in the public domain with no copyright restrictions. Once a play has entered public domain, it belongs to everyone. It becomes ours to do with as we please. As such, we thought it’d be cool if… we offered up some of the creative decision-making to you. We’ve picked 7 directors with wildly different styles and 7 deliberately eclectic public domain plays, and we want you to match ‘em up. Come on down to http://bit.ly/PubDomVoting and help us make some exciting theater. We’ve given you some background on the plays and the artists to get you started, but we encourage you to head over to Project Gutenberg and read any of the plays for free. They belong to you, after all. Polls close July 6th.

The Theatrical Assembly of Self-Realized Animals

Presents

Our Farm

Character Breakdown:

Snowball – (F, 40-65, pig) – the founder of TASRA, she directs and stars in Our Farm, sensible, experienced, very passionate, wordy, intellectual, a little proud and self-righteous, but only cause she’s got the most at stake in this production and the most to say, she truly believes that animals have been wronged by the human world and that TASRA is the way to liberate them, she loves and believes in the power of theatre.

Gordy/Snowball II – (M, 20-30, pig) – TASRA’s strongest and biggest name actor, the pig who played Babe in the movie by the same name, cast by Snowball to play herself, over-the-top, self-involved, confident, very “L.A.”, but not insincere, until the real Napoleon shows up and he is pulled from his role, then we see the jittery, but lively, quick-thinking, heroic actor underneath.

Cowboy/Boxer – (M, 25-40, horse) – honest, sincere, a little stupid or maybe just oblivious, but he works harder and tries harder than anyone else in the company, he’s never been in a play before but feels truly honored to be given this opportunity, he has a calming energy, loyal, generous, and is all around lovable.

Benjamin – (M, 50-70, donkey) – stoic, thoughtful, tired, and quiet, he’s not an actor, he probably didn’t want to be in this play, but he’ll do what is asked of him without complaining, he’s caring and good natured, wise, experienced and knowledgeable, a little bit of an old hand.

Dixie/Clover – (F, 25-40, horse) – a show-horse, grew up in a theatrical family, very method, takes her role very seriously but she’s not a diva, you can see her effort more than her talent, smart but panicky, devoted, kindhearted, the closest thing to a leading lady that can be found in TASRA.

Candice/Bluebell – (F, 20-30, sheepdog) - excited, energetic, eager, willing, easily thrilled and easily scared, loving, warm, tender, motherly, innocent maybe even naive, emotional, dedicated, easily trusts the others.

Napoleon’s Dog Band – (3 M/F, 20-40, dogs) – Napoleon’s entourage and body-guards, also a jazz ensemble, vicious, militant, trained by Napoleon to play some swingin’ tunes and kill farm animals. Bring musical instrument and 1 minute’s worth of showin’-off music.
